To celebrate World Maths Day today, this morning the boys and girls of P6/7 joined with pupils around the world by logging into their Mathletics account and completing 20 x 60-second live maths games, earning 1 point for each question they answered correctly. The children really enjoyed the competitive aspect of this and had the opportunity to sharpen up their mental maths strategies in the process. Some great scores were obtained throughout the course of the day, and those who did not have the opportunity to complete all 20 games, will be able to finish them off tomorrow.
In the afternoon, the children in P6/7 joined with the Nerve Centre Creative Learning Centre and took part in a Maths coding workshop. Pupils learned to create and code their own multiple choice maths quiz using Scratch Jr. This event will took place online via zoom, where the Nerve Centre trainers took the pupils step by step through the creation of their maths quiz. A big thank you to the staff of the Nerve Centre for this wonderful opportunity to participate in a fun activity on World Maths Day.
