Townland Art

Enniskillen artist Genevieve Murphy, came into the P6/7 classroom today to help the children develop their artistic interpretations of their townlands.  The pupils had previously learned about townlands in Ireland and carried out some investigation work into their own townlands where they live.  They investigated their townland name, meaning, stories about their townland etc.  Using this information, they produced some great interpretations which they then drew out and painted.  The art work has been taken away by Genevieve to be scanned into a digital format and will be used to produce a pull-up display, which will in turn be presented back to the school.  We are all looking forward to seeing the finished townland display!
