Science Investigation
P6 & 7 carried out an investigation in class recently to find out which of the different types of balls would bounce the highest. For the investigation they used a handball, basketball, indoor soccer ball, foam round ball, foam rugby ball & a Gaelic football. The children got to handle each ball, judge its weight etc before making their prediction about which would bounce the highest. Predictions were recorded on the white board, as were their measurements of how high each ball bounced. Each ball was dropped from the 'drop zone' to ensure that it was a 'fair test,' and the children measured the bounce of each ball in cm using a metre stick. The children then used MS Excel to record their results as bar graphs.
