Maths Week Ireland 2015
This week the children of the P6 & 7 classes have been taking part in Maths Week Ireland 2015, which runs from 10th-18th October. They participated in a number of fun maths activities in class, with the most popular by far being the Target Boards activity.
Target Boards were a great fun way for the pupils to practise arithmetic and they didn’t even realise they were working!
Target Boards were completed through the Maths Week website and consisted of a given set of 9 numbers and using any of these numbers (only once in each expression) and the four operators (+, -, x & ÷), the children had to find out how many expressions they could make that made up the target number.
Many children even came in earlier in the morning so that they could start straight away once the activity went live on the website at 8:45am. The highlight of the week came on Thursday afternoon when they finished 4th on the island of Ireland with a score of 488. Well done to all the P6 & 7 children for contributing to this excellent score.
