Hour of Code
The pupils from P6 & 7 participated in the 'Hour of Code' initiative today. Thanks to Mr. Conroy who won the prize of the hour long class coding session with iTeach.
Michael O'Kane from iTeach took the class through the basics of coding and where it is useful eg computers, electronic devices, console games etc. Apps used during the session were 'Lego: Fix the Factory,' 'Hopscotch' & 'Tickle,' all of which can be downloaded onto devices at home. The highlight of the session was when a number of pupils were able to programme a drone (Rolling Spider) to fly in the outline of a square around the classroom, even flipping over in mid-air at the end.
The fun session tied in very well with many areas of literacy & numeracy and was thoroughly enjoyed by all the pupils, with many going home to continue their coding work.
