Hive Hackers Week 3
The continued focus on Computational Thinking and Coding continued within the school this week, when the PwC staff returned to assist our staff with the Hive Hackers Programme.
The children from P4-P7 focused on the use of loops in code instead of manual repetition of the same code. They had to move more efficiently through the maze with the angry bird and pig. The children then applied what they had learned in order to help the bee collect more nectar and thus make more honey. The children were also encouraged to use ‘nested loops’ - looped statements inside another loop.
Working in pairs, it was great to see a large number of pairs complete all the tasks, therefore confirming that they have gained a great grasp of coding over the last few weeks.
There will not be a Hive Hackers session next week due to Hallowe’en, but the children are really looking forward to its return after the holidays.
