1916 Easter Rising
The boys and girls of P6 & 7 have been learning about the events of Easter 1916 and how they contributed to shaping the history of our country. They have looked at the events from the points of view of a variety of different people at that time and have learned about the cruelty of war, as well as the bravery of those who fought and died for what they believed in.
With the centenary of the Easter Rising due to be celebrated throughout the country later this year, it is hoped that by learning about the events of 100 years ago, that they will have a better understanding of what is being celebrated nationally, as well as a deeper appreciation of the position of all sides in the conflict.
