Visit from Nepalese Teachers 🇳🇵

24th Jun 2019

Tonight the school played host to a group of teachers from Nepal who are in the north of Ireland as part of the British Council and DFID funded ‘Connecting Classrooms for Global Learning’ programme. The programme sees 10 schools from across the north, link with a range of different schools from Nepal. St Oliver Plunkett PS is the only school from Co. Tyrone involved in this particular group.

The teachers from Nepal, their counterparts from various schools from the north, CCMS and INTO officials, as well as all our own school’s staff, were entertained by some of the children of our own school who did a fantastic job. Well done to all the children involved.

Over the weekend, Mr Conroy travelled to St Mary’s PS Mullaghbawn were he met up again with the Vice-Principal of Shanghai-La Public School Kathmandu, Mr Damar Bista.  Both Mrs Maguire and Mr Conroy were superbly hosted by Mr Bista, his pupils, staff and governors when they travelled out to Kathmandu in February 2018. Mr Conroy met with Mr Bista, and together they have drawn up a plan, whereby the children of both schools will work together in the autumn term on a project which will focus on a number of UN Sustainable Development Goals. We all look forward to that as we continue to build on our excellent international work to date.
